Thermal Summer Diurnal Hot-Spot Analysis: The Role of Local Urban Features Layers

This study was focused on the metropolitan area of Florence in Tuscany (Italy) with aim mapping and evaluating thermal summer diurnal hot- cool-spots relation to features greening, urban surfaces, city morphology. The work driven by Landsat 8 land surface temperature (LST) data related 2015–2019 daytime periods. Hot-spot analysis performed adopting Getis-Ord Gi* spatial statistics applied mean LST datasets obtain location boundaries cool-spot areas. Each classified using three significance threshold levels: 90% (LEVEL-1), 95% (LEVEL-2), 99% (LEVEL-3). A set open elements directly or indirectly at local scale were calculated for each area: (1) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), (2) tree cover (TC), (3) water bodies (WB), (4) impervious areas (IA), (5) albedo (ALB), (6) (SA), (7) Shape index (SI), (8) Sky View Factor (SVF), (9) theoretical solar radiation (RJ), (10) population density (PD). General Dominance Analysis (GDA) framework adopted investigate relative importance factors affecting results showed that 11.5% studied is affected 6.5% hot-spots. average variation between cold-spot about 10 °C it 15 among extreme levels detection magnified role vegetation (NDVI TC) combined significant contribution other elements.
